Which Bike Should I Buy?
The process of determining which bike you want to buy starts by deciding where you will be doing most of your riding. There are many different types of bicycles but for simlicity, we will split the genres to road, off road and hybrid. We also stock folding bikes, tricycles, BMX to name a few. If you have any queries or would like some advice / direction then use our contact form and we will be glad to help. Road Bikes
![]() A good purchase for anyone who is interested in performance biking - fitness training, road race, time trial or triathlon. Road bikes are also a good choice for those who want to bike to work. You can buy drop bar or flat bar road bikes. If you’re biking on a paved, smooth surface, a road bike is the most efficient way to ride. Road bikes typically have narrow tyres and lightweight frames. Tyres should be well-inflated to keep the surface contact at a minimum to reduce rolling resistance and prevent punctures. Our range of bikes covers Scott and Wilier for performance and weight saving, through to Van Nicholas titanium frames for comfort and longevity to Genesis which provides something different like single speed and cyclocross. Mountain Bikes
![]() Distinguished by their smaller wheels, thicker tyres and sturdy tread, mountain bikes are made to take a beating from Mother Nature. Thicker tyres have more surface contact with the earth and wide tread digs into the ground for better traction. As a result you can ride on dirt, in fields or over loose gravel or rocks. Mountain bikes come in a huge variety of shapes and sizes, each designed for specific conditions. In store, we have a selection of hard tail and full suspension road bikes and can discuss the different terrains each will suit.
Our light weight cross country selection has displays from Marin with their industry leading frame technology through to Genesis where the bikes offer the best in value for Shimano parts. Our racing mountain bikes are topped with the Scott Scale carbon bikes and our full suspension bikes cover cross country and more aggressive cycling. We have full suspension bikes from Marin and Scott in store and offer demo bikes to allow you to try before you make the decision to buy.
Hybrid
![]() Hybid bikes are traditionally a mix of road and off road bikes so are great for cyclists who want to mix smooth tarmac roads with green lanes and country tracks. There is a huge range of hybrid style on offer, designed to suit the specific need of the rider.
You can buy a hybrid bike with road wheels, ultra light frame and an aerodynamic position - ideal for fitness training; but there is also a great range of 'comfort' style hybrid bikes offering supreme comfort for ambling through country lanes or popping for the shopping. Marin Stinson is the preferred choice of many customers wanting comfort on the move.
One of our showrooms is dedicated to hybrid bikes, and as such, we have a massive choice of bike to cover every need. We have test bikes available and will gladly talk through your requirements in order to match you with the perfect cycling solution.
If you would like further clarification or need advice in making the correct choice for your cycling, then fill in our contact form and we will get back to you with a couple of choices.
